Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Centers

Skilled nursing facilities offer 24-hour staffing with a registered nurse on duty at all times. Medications are administered either by a nurse or certified medication aide. Residents have written care plans. All skilled nursing facilities provide three meals a day. Therapies are typically available on the premises. Planned activities and transportation for scheduled appointments are standard.

Refer to the Medicare and Medicaid sections for information on if a skilled nursing stay will be covered. Some facilities require 1-2 years of private pay ability before admission. Long-term care policies may reimburse for a skilled nursing stay.
