Reverse Mortgages
A reverse mortgage is a type of home loan that lets individuals aged 62 and older convert a portion of the equity in their home into cash. The Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) is FHA’s reverse mortgage program. You must meet with an HECM counselor first to discuss eligibility and requirements. Call HUD directly to find an FHA reverse mortgage lender or search online on their website. Consult your phone book for a listing of private reverse mortgage lenders.
